Symantec AntiVirus exceptions
All systems on the network must have corporate approved antivirus software installed and enabled. Corporate approved antivirus software, a requirement set by the Information Security Office, states that all systems must have a process in place to ensure that virus software definitions are maintained at the most current levels.
If your workstation or server cannot be rebooted (for installation completion) or otherwise receive Symantec AntiVirus, you must request an exception. Exceptions must be submitted by the system owner, via NorthStar, and be approved by the Information Security Office. To request a NorthStar exception, follow these steps:
Launch NorthStar web.
Click on Log Service Ticket on the left side of this screen.
Specify how you should be contacted and enter an address or phone number if needed. Click Next.
Select the Software Applications option and click Next.
Select Norton Anti-Virus from the dropdown list of applications.
For the question "What problem are you experiencing?", choose "I have an issue not listed above."
Specify the operating system of the machine for which you are requesting an exception.
Specify the primary connectivity method for the machine for which you are requesting an exception.
Enter AntiVirus Exception Request in the Subject field.
The machine owner's name.
Click Finish.
The machine owner will be contacted by the Information Security Office after the request has been reviewed.
Failure to provide any of the information listed above will result in a delay in processing your request.
