How to check missed, received or placed calls on the Cisco 7940 IP phone

Checking the call history on the Cisco 7940 IP phone will display missed, received or placed calls.

To use the call history:

  1. Press the directories or book button.

  2. Use the scroll keys to highlight the option desired - Missed Calls, Received Calls or Placed Calls.

  3. Soft keys:
    • Select : Displays the call history for the option selected.
    • Clear: Clears all call histories - not just the one currently highlighted.
    • Exit: Exits the Directory and returns to the main LCD screen.

  4. When an option is selected, scroll to get specific details about a particular call. The newest calls will be at the top of the list. New soft keys also become available:
    • Dial: Speed dials the number highlighted.
      Note: To speed dial an external number, the EditDial function must be used first. For local external calls, an "8" must be added for an outside access line and for long distance external calls, an "8" followed by a "1" must be added for the outside line and long distance dialing.
    • EditDial: Allows the number highlighted to be edited. For detailed information about the EditDial soft key, click here.
    • Exit: Exits the option selected and returns to the main Directory screen.

  5. To return to the main LCD screen, press the Exit soft key from the main Directory screen.

 

 

 

 

 


The EditDial soft key allows a number to be edited and then called. When EditDial is selected, a new set of soft keys becomes available:

To edit a number, enter the new numbers in the proper location or delete numbers as needed. Once the edited number is displayed properly, press the Dial soft key to speed dial that number.

Note: An edited number cannot be saved. If it is speed dialed, however, the edited number will appear in the Placed Calls option.
