How to report a stolen laptop

If your PeopleSoft laptop computer is stolen, follow these steps to get a replacement machine quickly:

Report the theft to the local police and write down the case number or a police report number.
Report the theft to your manager so that they are aware that your computer has been stolen.
- If the theft occurred at a PeopleSoft office building, you or your manager should also let PeopleSoft Facilities or the office manager know.
Contact Technical Support Operations (1-888-54-PS-HELP) and let them know that your laptop has been stolen. They will open a NorthStar ticket for you to start the process to replace your stolen computer. Tell them as much as you can of the following information:
- The police case number or report number. You must have and report this number before you receive a new machine (although you can start the process before you actually get the number).
- The PeopleSoft Asset Tag number and machine serial number of the machine (may be written in your New Hire Orientation book).
- A phone number where you may be reached.
- The make and model of the stolen machine (may be written in your New Hire Orientation book).
- Your network logon name.
- Your logon network domain.
- Connected Backup information - such as an account number. If you don't have it, just let the Technical Support Operations analyst know that you have a Connected Backup account and the date of your last backup.
- Lotus Notes user name and password.
Your manager will be contacted via Lotus Notes. It's a good idea to let your manager know beforehand so that the manager can indicate that this ticket can be processed quickly once the manager receives the authorization request.

Once your machine is ready, you will be informed where to come pick it up, or will be asked for shipping information.

Note: Please be sure to lock up your computers at all times to reduce the number of stolen computers.
