How do I make a request to have my user name changed now?

Submit a ticket through NorthStar the ticket should be routed the same as any other name change request. You should specify the name change to be your first and last name initials and employee ID, e.g. jd08888 instead of jdax. See Eureka! document 55169 — How to request a network logon name change

Is user account renaming required?
Yes, for identified P&T Developers who need to have access to Clear Case and other P&T Unix/NIS systems.

What is user account renaming?
A rename provides a new user name for an existing user account.
The process doesn't create a new account for the user so all associated access and privileges to that account remain intact.
The rename will change the Active Directory user name required to access the account.
In the PeopleSoft Directory, the new network ID (user name) will also be updated in the short name field for access to Domino-based systems.
The user's password does not change as part of this process.

Why is this happening?
Products & Technology are migrating developers to a common code repository system called Clear Case.
This NIS/Unix system requires a user name of 8 maximum characters.
The legacy JD Edwards user names were using a 9 character ID, so these accounts need to be renamed for access.

Where can I continue using my old user name?
Once the change is made the old user name will no longer be valid for the PEOPLESOFT active directory.
Other development tools such as StarTeam and Calibre will still be using your old user name for access.
