How to view and change permissions
Permissions are the ability of a user to do something to (e.g. read or modify) an object such as a file or folder. When you create a file or folder you are the "owner" of that object. As owner you can grant permissions to certain users or groups. You can define what the user or group can do, such as only read the contents, or both read and modify the contents. When you grant a user or group permissions to a folder those permissions will apply to all objects (e.g. files) in the folder, and also apply to subfolders etc. You can change permissions to a file to override the permissions granted at the folder level. Don't do anything beyond the instructions below. If you get creative you can make your machine inaccessible and end up needing a rebuild. Do not change the permissions for " everyone." Change permissions only for individual users. NOTE: PeopleSoft security policy forbids removing or modifying CORP-GOLOBALADM or any other IT-configured user account.
