Missing system tray items - remove Fast find

The system tray is located on your Taskbar next to the clock. MS FastFind is can sometimes interfere with icons appearing in the system tray. Removing Fast Find from your StartUp folder may restore normal system tray items.

Remove Fast Find

1. Click on Start button to open the Start menu.

2. Select Settings, then Taskbar.

3. Select " Start Menu Programs" tab.

4. Select A dvanced. An "Exploring - C:\WINNT\Profiles\(your user name)\Start Menu" window will appear. ("Exploring - C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu" in Windows 95")

There are several "Start Menus" in Windows NT- "All Users", "Administrator", and "(your user name)", If there are other users of your machine they may have their own "Start Menu". The default location for most PeopleSoft installed applications is the "All Users" Start Menu so that is the place to first look for "Fast Find."
Clicking on the + (plus sign) next to any folder will open the folder and display any subfolders and/or files contained in it.
Clicking on any folder will display the contents of the folder in the right hand window.

5. Navigate to the "StartUp" folder. Click on "Fast Find" and delete.

After removing Fast Find from your StartUp folder your system tray should contain the normal array of icons.
