Dallas and Irvine RAS number does not work
Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. For more information, see Eureka! document 54040 — iPass Frequently Asked Questions.
This document applies to legacy PeopleSoft machines only. Legacy J.D. Edwards employees use iPass to dial in.
The difficulty you are experiencing is that the Dallas RAS and Irvine RAS (remote access dialup) numbers (all Focal numbers) do not work. You may hear it ring, but you do not hear the modem sounds after the ringing starts. You may also hear a fast busy signal, a "line disconnected" message, or dead air.
The Dallas and Irvine Focal RAS lines (used to dial into the PeopleSoft network) have been decommissioned and no longer work. You will need to dial into a different RAS server. Follow these steps:
Log onto your machine locally (i.e., without checking the "Logon using dial-up connection" box).
If you don't have an icon on your desktop, click on Start -> Programs -> PS WinApps -> PS RAS Connection Manager.
In the Area code field, enter 999.
In the Phone number field, enter 999 and press { Enter}.
A list of toll free numbers appear. Choose one of the 5 Pleasanton numbers.
Enter your network password in the Password: field.
Click Connect.
The next time you log in via RAS, you can check the "Logon using dial-up connection" box (click here to see screenshot:
) That way, when you RAS in, you will be fully authenticated on the network (to receive password notifications and other updates via the network logon scripts.) For more information, see Eureka! document
