Expiring VPN tokens
The RSA SecurID tokens all have an expiration date. The expiration date is stamped on the back of the token, below the serial number. On that date, the token will stop working. You will receive an authentication error when trying to use an expired token to VPN into the PeopleSoft network.
You will need to order a replacement token via NorthStar before your token expires, to ensure uninterrupted remote access to the network. Replacement token requests are given priority over new token requests. When are you are prompted for a mailing address, remember that FedEx does not deliver to P.O. Boxes. If you wish, please specify in the Description field that no signature is required for the delivery.
Once you receive the replacement token, use it to VPN into the PeopleSoft network. Use the PIN you have already set up for your expiring token. Once you successfully tunnel in, your expiring token will no longer work. You may dispose of the expiring token.
If you do NOT request a replacement token before your current token expires, you must request a new token. Your token can no longer be replaced. The process requires your manager's approval. The process may take 2 or more weeks to process. See Eureka! document 55063 — How to request a RSA SecurID token. Once you receive the new token, you will need to set up a new PIN. For instructions on how to set up a PIN, see Eureka! document 55147 — Set SecurID token PIN via the internet.
