How to update the Cisco VPN Configuration files

The VPN connection files contain information such as the location of PeopleSoft VPN servers (see Eureka! document 55155 — How to choose a different VPN connection server) and the host name for each of the servers. If your host name is missing, you should reload the connection files to get all the proper connection information back.

The connection files also contain Group Access Information such as the Group ID and password information. If you are being prompted for that information, please download new connection files as instructed below.

Follow these steps to download new connection files:

Connect to the Internet using your PeopleSoft machine. You do not have to be on the PeopleSoft network.
Use Internet Explorer to navigate to http://news.peoplesoft.com.
Log onto the PeopleSoft RSA server using your Username (network name) and Passcode (PIN + current token number).
Once you log in successfully, the RSA SecurID screen appears. Click on the link Click here to download the Latest Cisco VPN connection Updates on that screen.
A File Download screen appears.
Choose the radio button next to R un this program from its current location and click OK.
A Security Warning screen appears asking "Do you wish to install and run 'ciscoprofiles.exe from news.peoplesoft.com'?" Click Yes.
You will be returned to the RSA SecurID screen after a few moments.

When log in via VPN for the first time after downloading the files, the value may default to "PeopleSoft-Amsterdam." You may choose any of the locations by clicking on the down arrow next to the Connection Entry: field. The next time you log in, your previous choice is preserved.

Note: As of October 7, 2004, Cisco VPN Client version 4.0.4(D) is the standard supported version of VPN client software.
