Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. For more information, see Eureka! document 54040 — iPass Frequently Asked Questions.

The difficulty you are experiencing is that when you launch PS RAS Connection Manager, you receive the error

pscm

Failed to load control 'StatusBar' from MSCOMCTL.OCX. Your version of MSCOMCTL.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

To solve this, you need to load some Visual Basic files from the Software Library. If you are using RAS, you may need to use Dial-Up Networking to get onto the network before you can load this fix. If you are unable to use Dial-Up Networking, please contact Technical Support Operations to obtain a instructions. Follow these steps to load the fix:

  1. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

  2. If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.

  3. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

  4. Scroll until you see the entry Visual Basic Runtime Files and double-click on it to open it.

  5. Click on the button labeled Load VB 6.0 Runtime files.

  6. A DOS screen and WinInstall will appear briefly.

  7. Wait for the installation to complete.

  8. Reboot your machine.

Once the installation is complete and you have rebooted, you should be able to launch PS RAS Connection Manager successfully.
