ERROR: Error 709: Error changing password on domain - TSO reset password

Document number: 55071

Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. For more information, see Eureka! document 54040 — iPass Frequently Asked Questions.

If you are receiving the message Error 709: Error changing password on domain. The password may be too short or match a previously used password when trying to RAS into the PeopleSoft network and change your network password, and you have already tried dialing up the network from the initial log on screen, you will need to contact Technical Support Operations to have an analyst reset the password for you. For information on how to contact Technical Support Operations, click here.

When the analyst resets the password, you may have to wait about 20 minutes for the change to replicate across the network.

Once the change is replicated, you should be able to log onto the network successfully. Be sure to log on from the initial log on screen (on the screen where you enter your network passwork, click in the small box that says Logon using Dial-Up Networking so that a checkmark appears, and then log onto the network).
