How to request an RSA SecurID token

Document number: 55063

The RSA SecurID token is about 1" x 2", has a liquid crystal display on one side, and can attach to a key chain. Approximately every 60 seconds, the token generates and displays a unique code to be used with the certain software to log into the PeopleSoft network. Since access can only be gained with the token, the end user is solely responsible for any access gained to the network with their token. Sharing of the token with any other individual is strictly prohibited .

If you are a newly hired U.S. employee, you should have received your token with your computer. If you are an international employee or are not newly hired, you must log a service ticket in NorthStar to get a token. To request a token, follow these steps:

  1. Launch NorthStar, and log in, if necessary.

  2. Click on the Log Service Ticket link on the left side of the screen.

  3. Verify the contact information on the next screen and click Next.

  4. Choose Communications on the next screen and click Next.

  5. Choose Remote Access and click Next.

  6. For the question Which remote access application? choose Token.

  7. For the question What type of help you need? choose I want to get a new one.

  8. Enter the recipient's ID.
    • If you are to be the recipient, enter your ID.
    • If you are making the request for another person, enter their ID.

  9. In the Subject field type " I need an RSA SecurID token."

  10. Description field: If mailed, your token will be shipped via FedEx 2-day mail service. If you want to avoid a mandatory signature upon the delivery, specify this information in this field.

  11. In the Description field, type in the asset tag number or serial number for your computer with which you wish to use VPN. If you do not include this information, your request may be delayed.
    • The PeopleSoft asset tag is on the lid or the bottom of the machine and has a number that starts "P10....."
    • If you are a legacy J.D. Edwards employee, please just enter your serial number.

  12. If you have no other additional information to add, click Next.

  13. A screen asking for your mailing information appears. Fill in the requested information. The token will be delivered via FedEx., which will not not deliver to a P.O. Box. See Description field information above for a tip about the mail delivery.
    • NOTE: If you are an employee who is outside of the United States, the token must be mailed to a PeopleSoft office address.
    • For PeopleSoft office address information, see Eureka! document 75024 — PeopleSoft Offices Worldwide.

  14. Click Finish.

Your request for a token is submitted. Your manager is notified via Lotus Notes email to approve your token request within seven business days. If your manager approves the request, you will be contacted via Lotus Notes to acknowledge the terms and conditions of using the token, which you must acknowledge within seven business days. You will then be contacted when the token is ready for pickup or shipment, or if there are any questions you need to answer. Your department is charged for the token (current charge is a one-time charge approximately $75 US Dollars).
