Cannot connect via RAS: dead air or fast busy - try again
Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. For more information, see Eureka! document 54040 — iPass Frequently Asked Questions.
The difficulty you are experiencing is that when you are attempting to RAS into the PeopleSoft network, the modem dials out and the number rings, but when the number finishes ringing, you experience "dead air" (silence) or a fast busy signal.
To solve this, try these steps:
In Dial-Up Networking, make sure that your Phone number pre view field reflects that information. If it does not, click on the Location... button on the Dialup Networking screen where you preview the number you will be using and change the number accordingly.
Some phone systems need a "pause" after dialing an outside access digit (like the "9" in hotel the example above). To create a pause, enter a comma after the outside access digit. In the PS RAS Connection Manager, enter the comma in the Outside Access field.
Pleasanton #2: 888-273-3773
Pick up a phone handset connected to the phone line you are trying to use and verify that you are getting a good dial tone.
For information about accessing the network remotely, see Eureka! document 50015 — How to access the network using RAS or Dial-Up Networking.
