Tips for international users of PS RAS Connection Manager

Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. Here are some tips for international users:

Dialing properties/rules: You no longer have to change your dialing properties or rules to RAS. Just choose the country to which you would like to dial in the Country or region field. If you need to add any international access codes to the front of the number, enter the numbers in the Outside access field and they will be dialed for you when you click the Connect button. Canadian users: Sometimes, to dial a number within the same area code, you must enter a "1". In some cases you do not. PS RAS Connection Manager is designed with the latter situation in mind. If you need to dial a "1" first, please enter a "1" in the Outside access field. Be reminded, however, that if you need to add a "1" that you are mostly likely making a long-distance call. If possible, use a toll-free number instead of placing a long-distance call.
Picking a country: If the country from which you are calling is not listed on PS RAS Connection Manager's dropdown list of "Country or Region," choose a country that is geographically close to you. Note that most toll-free numbers must be used in the originating country. If you are not sure of the billing, check with the local phone company to find out how much the call will cost. If you are in a hotel, check with the front desk.
International access code: If you must RAS in to a server located in another country, please check the number PS RAS Connection is dialing. If the number is incomplete, click the Disconnect button. Most likely, an international access code will be missing from the front of the number. Enter that information in the Outside access field.
