How to connect to someone else's shared C:\drive
Although sharing a directory on your hard drive is possible, PeopleSoft does not allow this function for security reasons. If someone is sharing their c: drive, they are in violation of IT policy.
Your alternatives at this time are:
Email needed files to those who need the files. You will need to keep track of the versions yourself.
If you have an M: drive, you may put the files there. However, only you have full access to that drive. Everyone else has only read-access. They may copy the file from your M: drive to their machine or place where they have rights, but they cannot save the file back to your M: drive you. You should have full access to your M: drive, including editing and saving files to it. You can ask users to email you their changes. Again, you will need to keep track of the versions yourself. Remember that M: drives will be phased out starting Q1, 2002. For more information about the M: drives, click here.
If you have a department network shared drive already established, and the people who need access to the file have rights to that directory, you can put the file there.
