Connecting using a STSN connection in your hotel room
An ever-increasing number of hotels worldwide are offering high-speed internet access. This is typically advertised in the room as either STSN or iBAHN (which is a product offering from STSN). As a matter of course, the STSN service providers require each hotel to post instructions for using the service in each room. The front desk at the hotel can confirm if high-speed service is available, and if the information card is missing, provide you with a replacement.
This service will incur a flat-rate charge per day of use (day is defined as noon to noon the next day). Refer to the information in the room to determine the per-day charge (or contact the front desk if this information is missing). Some locations may also include this service as part of PeopleSoft's corporate room rate, and the front desk can tell you if the service is included at no additional charge.
To take advantage of the high-speed connectivity, you will need to use the network jack and your network cable (just as if you were in a a PeopleSoft office). To connect to the high-speed service, follow these steps:
Plug a network cable (either your own, or one from the hotel, if provided) into the network jack. It may also be labeled as RJ-45, DSL, ADSL, Internet, or something similar. (This is NOT the same jack as the slightly narrower modem jack.)
From your laptop, open Internet Explorer.
A web page from STSN will open, asking you to agree to the terms of payment and acceptable use. If you agree to the charges and the terms of use, follow the on-screen instructions to accept and login.
The web site then processes your request, and after 5-30 seconds, you will have an active internet connection.
You are now connected into the internet. The Cisco VPN dialer automatically launches after the iPass connection is made, and you will need to use the Cisco VPN dialer to connect to the PeopleSoft network. For information on using VPN to connect, see Eureka! document 54109 — How to log in using the Cisco VPN client.
