TSO Wireless (WiFi) Support Policy
Wireless (WiFi) network support is being rolled out to PeopleSoft machines that have a wireless card installed on the machine. This includes the Toshiba Tecra 8200, 9000-series, M1 and R100, Portege 2000 and 2010, laptops, IBM ThinkPad T40, T41 and X41.
At this time, this is roll-out is limited to enabling the wireless network option only. For more information on your responsibilities for using a wireless network, see Eureka! document 54202 — Responsibilities for using Wireless (WiFi) Connectivity.
What is Supported
A PeopleSoft-issued machine with the wireless option installed by PeopleSoft. (This is limited to machines that have been rebuilt and the wireless option is enabled, or an existing machine that has run a script to enable the wireless option.)
The client software on a PeopleSoft-issued machine to support wireless connectivity. (This is limited to machines that have the software installed when the machine is rebuilt, or an existing machine has has installed the PeopleSoft-provided software.)
Verifying the PeopleSoft-issued machine is able to connect to wireless access points.
What is NOT Supported
Wireless support beyond those areas noted above are NOT supported. This includes, but is not limited to:
A PeopleSoft-issued machine with the wireless option installed by the end user or anyone else OTHER THAN the PeopleSoft IT engineering team (via script or rebuild)
Non-PeopleSoft machines
Other wireless devices (including PDAs, personally-owned wireless devices or cards, or devices
Rogue wireless networks (including departments or test labs that have created unauthorized wireless access points)
Internet service provider (ISP) or carrier connectivity to reach a non-PeopleSoft wireless network or access point
Access or connectivity to private, home, customer/third-party and other non-PeopleSoft network connection points
Access or connectivity to hotspots (i.e. Starbucks, Kinko's, or other non-PeopleSoft wireless connection points)
Troubleshooting or support for personally installed, owned, or connected devices, routers, hubs, switches, firewalls or other hardware or software network solutions not provided directly by PeopleSoft.
