What is iPass and why are we using it?
iPass is a software application that lets you dial-up to an internet connection through a network of worldwide internet service providers (ISPs). iPass, used with the Cisco VPN client, lets you connect to the PeopleSoft network from 46 different countries anywhere in the world, without using RAS to directly to connect into a RAS dial-up server.
The conversion from RAS servers based in PeopleSoft offices to the iPass service will represent a cost savings to PeopleSoft while expanding the ability to dial-into PeopleSoft (using VPN) while dialing an in-country dial-up number. (PeopleSoft will eventually be able to retire the majority of RAS servers, also creating a cost savings for maintenance costs.)

Can the old and new iPass clients both exist on my machine at the same time?
In most cases, yes. (If the old version of the iPass client is 3.0 or greater, a message will display asking you to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version.)
The user name and password will not be the same for the old and new client. As soon as you receive the iPass client version 3.2, and the associated password for the 3.2 version, you should start using the new version with the new user name and password.

Why does the Cisco VPN dialer appear after I connect using iPass?
Your machine is company property and should be used for business purposes. Generally, this means that if you log into iPass, you will also need to log into the PeopleSoft network, which must be done using VPN. If you do not need to log onto the network via VPN, then close the VPN logon screen pressing the
button in the upper-right hand corner of the window (or use Ctrl+Q).
