How to map a drive letter
If you access a particular network drive frequently, you may want to "map" it so that you can access it easily when you are logged into the network. Some PeopleSoft applications require that you be mapped to particular network servers. To see a list of frequently mapped network drives, click here ( N:, P:, Z:). Follow these instructions to map a network drive:
Open My Computer by double-clicking on the icon on your Windows desktop.
Click on the Tools option of the menu bar and select Map Network Drive....
Click on the arrow for Drive drop-down list to scroll down and select an appropriate letter for the Drive:.
You may click on the Browse button to try to locate the server and directory manually, but you must know where to look for the server.
Click on the box next to Reconnect at logon if you wish to have this mapping occur every time your log onto the network.
Click on the Finish button.
The drive should be mapped. If you are unable to map a drive and get an error message, it may be either a problem with the server or you may need to request access to the shared drive (see Eureka! document 55136 — How to request access to an existing network shared directory (folder)). Note: You must be logged into the network before these drives can be accessed.
Z:\ Drive: When you log on to the PeopleSoft network, a logon script runs and needs this drive to run some processes. Don't map any network directories to this letter because you will cause an error in your network logon process.
The variable YourFileServerName should be replaced as shown below, based on your location.
VPN users: Your P: drive may not be mapped when you log in. Log the P: drive manually, as shown below.
This drive should be mapped to the PeopleNet32 directory on your closest server. This directory must be mapped to download some of the software in the Lotus Notes Software Library and to get PeopleNet Updates. When you receive your computer, it should already have the P:\ drive mapped for you. The Path for the P: drive that should be defined is \\YourFileServerName\peoplenet32.
