If you have run Print Mapper and the Print Mapper screen shows you have the LPT1 port captured but you are still unable to print, you made need to capture the port manually from DOS. Click on your Operating system below and follow the steps:

WINDOWS NT 4.0
WINDOWS 2000

 

Note: If you are trying to print an invoice through RVDB, also make sure that the Run Location of the Schedule Request panel is set for client (not server). Finally, verify you are printing to a printer and not to a file.

WINDOWS NT 4.0

To run Print Mapper:

1. Click the Start menu, click Programs, then click Command Prompt at the top of the list of programs.

2. At the DOS Command Prompt type the following:

   net use lpt1 \\ server name\printer number /persistent:yes

   and press the { Enter} key.

   Example: net use lpt1 \\ psp-print-02\p22 /persistent:yes

3. If you need to release LPT1 because it is already being used (you will get an error message) and you wish to specify another printer, go to the DOS prompt and type:

   net use lpt1 /d

   and press the { Enter} key.

   Then repeat Step 2 above.

4. Type exit and press the { Enter} key to exit DOS.

 

Your LPT1 port should be properly captured.

To run Print Mapper:

1. Click the Start menu, click Programs, then Accessories, and then Command Prompt.

2. At the DOS Command Prompt type the following:

   Example: net use lpt1 \\ psp-print-02\p22 /persistent:yes

3. If you need to release LPT1 because it is already being used (you will get an error message) and you wish to specify another printer, go to the DOS prompt and type:

   net use lpt1 /d

   and press the { Enter} key.

   Then repeat Step 2 above.

4. Type exit and press the { Enter} key to exit DOS.

 

Your LPT1 port should be properly captured.
