Archived, updated 47011.htm.
If you are trying to print and are prompted for installation disks or the location of the i386 directory in NT 4.0, you need to add printer drivers for the printer you are using.
The print drivers are usually located on the print server, but some of the print servers do not have the location of i386 directory on them.
To install the print drivers:
Map your T: drive to \\PLE-NETOPS-01\NT4\NTWKS
Select Start, then Programs, then Windows NT Explorer.
Select Tools, then Map Network Drive....
In the
Drive: field, enter
T:, and in the
Path: field enter
\\PLE-NETOPS-01\NT4\NTWKS. Then click
OK.
Next, click on Start, Settings, Printers, Add Printer.
In the Add Printer Wizard, select Network Printer Server, then click Next.
Enter or select the printer from the list and click OK.
A message appears indicating that the printer does not have the drivers you need. Click OK.
Another message appear prompting you to insert the CD-ROM. Click OK.
Enter T:\i386 in the Copy files from: box, and click OK.
Click Next and Finish.
If you need to print to this printer from Expense, go to the DOS Prompt and enter:
NET USE LPT1: \\ printserver\ printer /PERSISTENT:YES
