Display area does not fit laptop screen - change resolution
If there is a black border around your display (usually about an inch wide all the way around) the most likley cause is that the screen resolution is not compatible with your laptop screen. When the resolution selected is not compatible with the display the monitor may attempt to use "virtual display" mode. In that mode it will adjust the
area of the screen used to attempt to simulate the resolution selected. Most laptops, for example, have one optimum resolution. If you choose a different resolution the display area may be smaller than screen size creating a black edge or frame around the display area.
