The Toshiba laptops allow you to set various options to reduce power usage for more efficient use of the battery.  In reduced power mode the screen will not be as bright as in full power mode.  Changing the power mode to Full Power will increase screen brightness.  Changing the power mode to Full Power will also drain your battery faster.

Windows NT

Windows 2000 - there is no adjustment in screen brightness with Windows 2000.

For Windows NT determine what power mode your machine is using by following these steps:

1. Use the laptop keyboard.

2. Hold down the { Fn} (located near bottom left).

3. While continuing to hold the {Fn} key, press the { F2} (located near top left).

4. A Power usage display should pop up showing three faucets and to the right of the faucets one of the following phrases:
   (For some models lightbulbs are used instead of faucets)

• Full Power
• Low Power
• User Settings

To increase screen brightness change the power mode to Full Power:

5. Continue holding the { Fn} key and press the { F2} key until the words Full Power show in the pop up box.

6. Release both keys.
