ERROR: 692 Hardware Failure or Modem not responding - replace modem

Document number: 39001

The error message you are receiving Error 692 Hardware Failure in port or attached device or Error 692 Modem not responding is most likely due to the failure of your PCMCIA or internal modem.  To solve this, you will need to have your modem replaced.  There are, however, some easy fixes depending upon your set up. Before replacing your modem make sure you have reviewed the document 39032 — How to troubleshoot modem problems, or use the Modem Troubleshooter.

If the above steps did not correct the problem open a NorthStar ticket to make an appointment for service. Be sure to include your contact number. Describe the problem in detail, especially the steps you took to try to correct the problem. You will be contacted by the appropriate party. For more information on creating the NorthStar ticket, see Eureka! document 39068 — How to submit a computer or peripheral for repair.
