How to find processor and memory information for your computer

To find the processor and memory information on your computer via the Control Panel, follow these steps:
Click on the Start menu, then Settings, and then Control Panel.
Double-click on the Administrative Tools icon.
Double-click on the Computer Management icon.
The Computer Management panel appears. On the left side of the screen, under System Tools, click on the plus sign (+) next to System Information to open that section.
Click on System Summary.
Wait a few seconds.
Your processor and memory information should appear. It may take a few seconds for the information to fully appear, so please be patient. The total RAM on your machine is listed as "Total Physical Memory."

On your Windows 2000 machine, follow these steps to find the information using the command line:
Click on the Start menu and choose Run...
In the Open: field, type in dxdiag and click OK.
Wait a few moments.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool screen appears. The processor and RAM information appears on the System tab.
