System could not log you on because the < domain name> domain is not available

The error System could not log you on because the <domain name> domain is not available occurs under a number of circumstances. The most common situation is that the machine is not properly authenticated to the network.

To ensure proper authentication you need to be connected to the network when you login. You do this by:

Having a direct (office) connection or
Remote VPN users should use Eureka document 54119 — How to configure Cisco VPN to log into the network automatically to ensure that there is proper network authentication.
Remote RAS users should dial in from the log on screen. For more information see the document 50015 — How to access the network using RAS or Dial-Up Networking .
