The following Vantive errors and incorrect behaviors:

Cannot create an Install Request for existing customer. System requires you to create from Vantive.

Server error: file does not exist - Mail file in notes.ini didn't match mail database

Notes environment not set or ini not found

Data is not populating from Vantive into Install Request, Work Order or Case attachment"

Compose E-mail button doesn't work

Unable to View attachments
usually occur when a computer has been upgraded from an earlier version of Windows to Windows NT.
These errors and problems occur because Vantive is looking for a single
notes.ini file. If it cannot find it, or finds multiple instances of this file on your computer, it will fail to populate a Lotus Notes document correctly and result in an error.
To resolve the problem, please check the following:
- Verify that your
NOTES.INI file is in the correct directory:
- For
Windows 95, the path should be:
C:\WINDOWS\NOTES.INI
- For
Windows NT 4.0, the path should be:
C:\WINNT\NOTES.INI
- For
Windows NT 3.5, the path should be:
C:\WINNT\NOTES.INI
- Using the
Find program, verify that you do
not have more than one NOTES.INI files in locations other than those listed above.
- Click the Windows
Start button.
- Select
Find, then
Files or Folders.
- In the
Named box type in
notes.ini.
- Click on the
F
ind Now button. This will search your computer for all copies of the notes.ini file.
If you have more than one file, delete them from any other location other than what is listed above.
If the error continues after completing these steps, contact Technical Support Operations
for further assistance.
