Error Message: Unknown error has occurred. Number =13, Type mismatch

Document number: 27318

Symptom:
Error message: "An unknown error has occured. Number =13, Type mismatch"

Cause:
Unknown or unrecognizable characters in the decription field of an expense line. Most often this has turned out to be a carriage return (Enter Key) within a description field and has occurred most often in the Airfare expense types. This can happen if the information has been cut and pasted from another source (such as an email confirmation).

Resolution:

  1. Review all expense lines related to Airfare.

  2. Delete any lines that have the strange or improper characters

  3. Once all offending expenses are deleted, select File, Save from the menu bar.

  4. After saving the expense report, select File, Close from the menu bar to close this report.

  5. Reopen the expense report and add back in the expense lines. Do not cut and paste the information into these fields but enter them manually.

  6. Once all expenses are entered, select File, Save from the menu bar. If any of the required fields have not been completed, you will be prompted to complete those fields at this time.

  7. Select File, Close from the menu bar to close this report.

  8. When you are ready to submit your Expense Report, select Online, Submit Expense Report from the menu bar. You must be connected to the network to submit.

You should no longer encounter this error.
