ERROR: Error creating AdminP request. Please contact your administrator.

Document number: 26079

The Lotus Notes error message "Error creating AdminP request. Please contact your administrator." may occur when trying to create a mail or calendar delegation profile for a variety of reasons:

Click a link below for a description of that reason and how to resolve it:

If the error message persists after trying the resolutions in the steps above or if the task being performed when the error was received is not listed above, contact Technical Support Operations so the issue can be escalated to a Notes Administrator.

To check the Administration server on the mail file:

  1. Open the mail file.

  2. Select F ile from the menu bar.

  3. Select D atabase from the drop down list and select A ccess Control... from the next drop down list.

The Administration server for the mail file is indicated by a server icon with a key in it ( ) to the left of a server name in the Access Control List. If the server listed as the Administration server matches the server that the mail file is located on, the information is correct.

If a server other than the server that the mail file is located on is indicated as the Administration server, contact Technical Support Operations so that the Administration server can be modified by a Notes Administrator.

If a generic Notes ID and mail file are being used and calendar delegation needs to be set up, a separate location document is required for the generic ID. If a generic file is being used to send and receive mail, the process of switching ID's using File -> Tools -> S witch ID should not be used. Switching ID's using the location documents is the most reliable and effective way to switch ID's.

For information on how to set up multiple Notes users (including generic ID's) on one computer, see Eureka! document 16120 — How to use multiple Lotus Notes ID's on a single machine.

If the mail file is incorrectly referenced in the location document, the delegation profile cannot be created. The error message may not be received and it may seem like the delegation completed successfully. Upon looking at the calendar delegation, however, the name added does not appear.

Before verifying that the mail file is correctly specified in the location document, check the file name and note it down.

To check the mail file name:

  1. Select F ile from the menu bar.

  2. Select D atabase from the drop down list and select P roperties... from the next drop down list.

The file name is just below the Title and Server listed.

To verify that the mail file is correctly specified in the location document:

  1. Select F ile from the menu bar.

  2. Select M obile from the drop down list and select E dit Current Location... from the next drop down list.

  3. Click the Mail tab.

  4. Mail file: Note: the " .nsf" is not required after the file name in the Mail file field.

    • File name correct: Click the Save and Close button to close the location document.
    • File name incorrect: Change the file name to match what was noted in the database properties window and click the Save and Close button.

If the file name was incorrect and has been corrected, the delegation profile should create properly now.

If the file name is correct or if the profile still does not create properly after changing the file name, contact Technical Support Operations so the issue can be escalated to a Notes Administrator.

Delegation profiles must be created in the server replica of the mail file. If the local replica is being used to create the profile, the error message will be received. To resolve the error, verify that the delegation is being created in the server replica of the mail file.

To verify which mail file replica is being used:

  1. Right mouse click on the mail file bookmark at the top of the bookmark bar.

  2. Select O pen Replica from the drop down list.

If the server name ( Servername/PeopleSoft) has a check mark next to it, the server replica is being used and Technical Support Operations should be contacted for further support.

If Local has a check mark next to it, single click on the server name ( Servername/PeopleSoft) to switch to the server replica. The local replica of the mail file was being used which caused the error to appear. After switching to the server replica of the mail file, the error message should no longer be received when creating a delegation profile.
