ERROR: File does not exist (creating e-mail message)
The error message "File does not exist" appears when clicking the New Memo button in the Lotus Notes mail file when a signature file is no longer in the location specified in the mail preferences. The message will often appear when a user has received a machine upgrade or rebuild as the signature file was not restored to the same location. Also, if using Lotus Notes on multiple machines, and a signature is created from a file on the computer, be sure the file is on both machines in the same location. If it is not, the error message will also be received.
NOTE: Outgoing mail can be sent even if the error is received. Click OK and the memo form will appear so that a message can be created.
To resolve the error, deselect the option to automatically add a signature to an e-mail message or modify the path for the signature file so that it is correct.
Once one of the above resolutions has been done, the error message will no longer be received when creating a new message.
For information on adding signatures to e-mail messages, see Eureka! document 12048 — How to add a signature to mail messages in Lotus Notes.
