ERROR: This workspace icon is corrupt. Please delete...

Document number: 26047

The Lotus Notes error message "This workspace icon is corrupt.  Please delete and re-add it to your workspace." means that the icon on the old workspace has become corrupt, but the database itself is not corrupt.  To resolve this issue, the icon needs to be removed, the cache deleted and then the icon re-added to the workspace.

This issue most often occurs when trying to use the Address button for the Personal Address Book in a new memo.  Once the icon has been removed and re-added, the Address button functions properly.

To remove a database icon from the workspace:

  1. Open the Databases bookmark folder (with the blue book) on the left hand side of your Lotus Notes screen.  If you've moved the Workspace bookmark, open the bookmark folder where it's now located.

  2. Click on the bookmark named Workspace and the workspace will open.

  3. Find the icon for the database you were trying to access when the error appeared.

  4. Single click on the database icon so that it's highlighted. The database title will be in the color blue.

  5. Press the {Delete} key.

  6. A pop up window that asks "Remove selected icon(s)?" will appear. Press Yes to remove the icon.

The database icon has now been removed from the workspace.  Before re-adding the icon to the workspace, the Notes cache should be deleted.  For information on how to delete the Notes cache, see Eureka! document 16107 — How to delete the Lotus Notes cache.

  4. Highlight the server closest to your location by single clicking on it and click the Add Icon button.
