ERROR: Router: Unable to dispatch message. Size exceeds 10000 Kbytes

Document number: 26038

If you receive the Lotus Notes error message Router: Unable to dispatch message. Size exceeds 10000 Kbytes when sending an attachment to an external email address, it is because the file size is over the maximum allowed through the PeopleSoft Message Transfer Agent. The maximum size allowed for a file sent outside of PeopleSoft is 10mb.  You will receive the error message along with a delivery failure if it is above 10mb.

If you have a file that is close to 10mb in size, you should try to zip it prior to sending it.  For information about how to create a zip file, see Eureka! document 15095 — How to zip files using PKZip.

NOTE: If the person you are sending the file to does not have the PKZip utility, be sure to create the file as a self-extracting zip file.  For information on how to create a self-extracting zip file, see Eureka! document 15097 — How to create a self-extracting zip file using PKZip.

The best time to send a large file is during off-peak hours - early in the morning, during the evening or weekend.

If the file is larger than 10mb even after zipping it, contact Technical Support Operations for further assistance.
