Your mail file has grown too large errors

The following Lotus Notes error messages occur when your mail file has grown too large:

"Your mail database exceeds the corporate maximum size of 150 MB"
"Cannot allocate database object - database would exceed its disk quota"

At PeopleSoft, the quota for mail files is a maximum of 150 mb. Once your mail file grows larger than 150 mb, you will continue to receive new mail messages, but you will not be able to save any sent mail. When you attempt to save sent messages, the error "Cannot allocate database object - database would exceed its disk quota" will display. To resolve this error, you must delete or archive documents from your server mail file bringing it within the corporate guidelines of 150MB.

Sending and saving email, although seen in one step, is a two part process. Email sends first and then attempts to save thus causing the "Cannot allocate database object - database would exceed its disk quota" error. Even though a user receives the quota error, the email is sent. To stop receiving this message when over the quota, you can change your preferences to not save email. NOTE: When the mail file is over the quota, mail can be sent and received, but sent mail cannot be saved. Because the monthly mail retention notification is saved directly to a mail file and not sent to it, a notification cannot be saved to a mail file over the quota. Any user whose mail file is over the quota will not receive a mail retention notification.
