You have received the Customer1 error “ Primary record cannot be deleted” when trying to delete the first product/contact record from the Product/Contact section of a Lead, and the Product/Contact/Sales Team section of an Opportunity even if the Primary checkbox is not checked for that record.

By default, the Primary record for those sections are the first record even if it is not checked as Primary unless any of the succeeding records is checked as Primary.  

If you are trying to delete the first record and none of the succeeding records are checked as Primary, assign the second record as primary.  Afterwards, try deleting the first one.
