How to repair, restore or reload Internet Explorer or its components.
Microsoft Internet Explorer is integrated into the Windows operating system. It should not be entirely reloaded except as a last resort. Before reloading the entire package try the various fixes on the install page. While it may take more time to try each of the fixes the overall results will be more efficient if you are not forced to reload Internet Explorer.
First, try a repair:
Click on the Start button, then select Settings
Click on Control Panel
Double click the Add/Remove Programs to open it.
Scroll to
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and Internet Tools or
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1
NOTE: You may not find Internet Explorer in Add/Remove programs. Internet Explorer is heavily integrated into the operating system. When a service pack is loaded the entry for Internet Explorer is removed from "Add/Remove Programs". To restore the entry it is necessary make a change to the registry. These links will make the change for you:
I.E. 5.5 Save the file to the desktop of the affected machine, then double-click to install it.
I.E. 6 Save the file to the desktop of the affected machine, then double-click to install it.
Click on the Add/Remove button.
Select Repair Internet Explorer.
If that does not work go on to Software Library Install
To install Microsoft Internet Explorer or any of its components from the Software Library in Lotus Notes:

You may need to look in your databases folder
for the Software library bookmark
![]()
If you don't have the Software Library bookmark, see document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.
Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.
Click By Package Name. This view will probably already be showing as it is the default view.
Scroll until you see the entry
I.E. 6 Internet Browser and double click on it to open it.
Internet Explorer 5.5 is still available under the entry
Internet Explorer 5 Packages.
Follow the instructions on the page to install the software. There are several tabs to the install page. Be sure to install the correct software.
After reinstalling Internet Explorer be sure to clear your cache, see Eureka! document 16093 — How to clear the cache in Internet Explorer. Reboot to ensure all changes are applied properly.
