Popup prompts should always be viewed with caution. If you get a prompt to update software do not accept it unless (1) it is clearly from PeopleSoft or (2) you have confirmed that it is a PeopleSoft authorized update. That includes offers to update PeopleSoft installed programs, and programs from responsible software vendors. Our installs are often customized and incompatible with generic upgrades. The screen shots below show popups announcing updates from PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft patches and upgrades should be applied promptly. If you do not install them promptly they will be installed later by schedule and you will not be able to interupt it or prevent it.

If you experience problems with any update process:

1. Make sure the service pack on your machine is current. See Eureka! document 69035 — How to find out what Windows Service Pack is loaded.
2. Check the details of what is supposed to be downloaded and write it down. Reboot and check the details again with the next prompt. Select to install immediately.  If you get another prompt check the details to see if it is for the same or a different download.
3. Check these documents for additional information:

   • Systems Management Server and Software Patch Management
