Documentum is a Document Management system that provides a number of benefits including a central file repository, file security and revision tracking. Documentum is currently used to secure many PeopleSoft documents, including product documentation, RFPs and legal files, and supports most commonly used file types including .htm, .doc, .ppt, .xls and .pdf. Documentum allows users to store critical documents in a central, secure location where users can search the repository and view or update documents. Documentum also enables users to work more efficiently through the use of features such as virtual documents and workflows . Documentum is integrated with Microsoft Office so many commonly used Documentum functions are also available from within standard Office applications (for more information, see Eureka! document 18085 — Documentum integration with Microsoft Office). What's New in Desktop Client

PeopleSoft has recently implemented a new Documentum release - Desktop Client Version 4.3. The following list contains a brief summary of new features and functionality in this release. For detailed information, see Using Documentum Desktop Client.

This new Documentum release is integrated with Windows Explorer. You can now perform most common Documentum functions from either the Desktop Client or Windows Explorer.
There are also a few terminology changes. For example, what was previously referred to as the Checkout folder is now the Local Files folder. Routers have been replaced by Workflows. See Eureka! document 18250 — Documentum Glossary for other terminology changes.
Desktop Client allows you to manage XML objects. For detailed information, see Managing XML Content in Documentum.
