Unlinking a record in Vantive

Document number: 18011

What does "unlinking" a record from its associated record do in the Vantive system?

Any underlined field in the system is linked to another table. "Unlinking" a value from a linked field will only delete the relationship between the specific record you have just unlinked and all records that field was linked to.

Adding a new value to the unlinked field will establish a link with the new value to all of the associated records.

If you receive the message "Changing this field will unlink this record from its associated record(s). Do you want to continue?" Press the YES button, and select or add the new value. If you have decided you do not want to change the value in that field, press the NO button.

For information about updating a field in Vantive, see Eureka! document 18010 — How to update fields in Vantive.
