HR Security/Access Information
HR Self Service, built on PeopleSoft 8, uses role based security. Depending on your role, you have access to specified areas within HR. The goal is to give employees and managers access to the information and actions they need to keep their information current and perform their jobs while keeping sensitive data confidential.
There are several levels of access to the Human Resources Database. Here are the most common:
Employee Access - Employees can view or update their own information such as address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, paid time off, benefits selection and review.
Department Manager Access - This access level is for Department Managers and includes access to confidential information for the employees in their departments. This information includes salary planning, bonus and stock allocation, and job information.
Reporting Manager Access - This access level is for Managers and Supervisors who have employees reporting to them but are not specified as a Department Manager. Access at this level includes non-confidential information for their direct report employees and non-confidential functions in the manager self service job change application.
Department Coordinator Access - This level of access is given at the request of the Vice President or Senior Manager to whom the Department Coordinator reports. This level of access includes non-confidential information for the organization he or she supports.
If you need to have your access level changed, you must submit a NorthStar ticket requesting additional access.
