Internal Transfer using Job Change Applications HR self service managers
To sustain retention of valuable, experienced employees, internal transfers are common at PeopleSoft and allow employees to grow their skills and apply them in new areas within the company. There are two types of internal transfers; transfers associated with a job requisition, and transfers resulting from an internal restructuring.
Transfers involving additional headcount or vacated existing positions should have a requisition created. Managers will need to work with their recruiters through the entire candidate search period. If an internal candidate has been identified, you should immediately notify your manager, the recruiter, and your HR Business Partner to determine an appropriate offer. Verbal offers should not be extended without notification of the recruiter.
Transfers involving moving of headcount or changing the attributes of a current occupied position due to restructuring should be completed using the Job Change Application. This should be done only by the current/sending manager or authorized Human Resources representative.
To transfer an employee follow these steps:
Log on to Planet PeopleSoft. For more information, see Eureka! Document 15270 — How to log on to Planet PeopleSoft.
Locate Planet Navigator on the left hand side of your Planet page.
Click Applications to see a list of available applications. Access to the applications listed is role based. If you do not have access to the applications that you need, submit a NorthStar ticket.
Click Human Resources Self-Service (HRMS).
Select Self Service > Manager > Task > Transfer Employee.
Indicate the effective date of the change in the Date Change Will Take Effect field, then click Go.
This will bring up a list of employees that report to you. Click on the Name of the employee you are transferring. If you wish to see a list of employees that do not report to you directly, but are part of your reporting chain, click here.
The Transfer Method will default to By Department and/or Job Title. Do not change this field.
Click on the Continue button.
Enter the Reason for Transfer using the drop down box.
Type in the new information in the Department and Job Code fields. You can also use the search button icons to find this information. The Location and Supervisor fields will populate from the department number. Make any necessary changes if the information populated is not correct. If the reporting manager is different from the department manager, the reporting manager's name should be updated in the Supervisor field.
Click the Submit button.
The Submit Confirmation page will come up next. It will show the approval steps needed to complete the transfer. Once you click OK, the next step of approval will be notified.
To check the status of a transfer, go to Self Service > Manager > Tasks > Transfer Status.
