In some countries it is customary to bill a customer using daily rates rather than hourly rates. In addition, there are different definitions of the number of hours that constitute a day. For example, in some cases a day may equal 8 hours while in others it may equal 9 hours. Further, in some cases you may be able to bill for overtime and sometimes the rates are for overtime hours may be based on hourly rates while in others it may be based on half-day rates.

What should the consultant do for time entry in cases like this?
The consultant should enter the actual hours worked and mark them billable. The daily rate engine takes care of converting those hours to the appropriate number of days and applying the daily rate.
