How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes

Document number: 16250

The Software Library contains documents with buttons to install standard software packages. The Software Library is a database accessed through Lotus Notes.  The instructions below include both opening the Software Library database and creating a bookmark for future use. NOTE: Users with legacy J.D. Edwards buit machines should use caution when accessing the Software library. Pay attention to the information and warnings to avoid making your machine unusable.

To open the Software Library database and create a bookmark for future use:

  1. Open Lotus Notes.

  2. Select F ile from the menu bar.

  3. Select D atabase from the drop down list and select O pen... from the next drop down list.

  4. Type PSSearch in the Server: window and click the Open button.

  5. Double click on Domain Catalog in the Database: window to open it.

  6. Click the by Title view on the left side of the screen.

  7. Type Software Library and press the {Enter} key. Double-click on the title of the database to open the section listing the servers the database is located on.

  8. Single click on the server name that the database should be accessed from. Look for one local to your usual work location. You may have to guess based on the first three characters of the server name.  If you guess wrong it is not critical; it may slightly affect performance depending upon where that server is on the network.

  9. Click the Open button and press the {Esc} key to close the "About this database" document after it has been read. The database will be open.

By following the instructions above you have both opened the Software Library database for current use and created a link for quick access in the future.
