Global Marketing Calendar FAQ
This document is used to describe common questions regarding the Global Marketing Calendar and their resolutions. This document can be used in conjunction with the Marketing Calendar Quick Reference Guide for best results.
How do I find the Global Marketing Calendar?
There are three ways to access the calendar:
OR
OR
1. Bookmark the direct link to the Global Marketing Calendar home page - http://mktgcalendar.peoplesoft.com.
How do I log in to the Global Marketing Calendar?
There are two distinct ways that you can interact with the application - as a
Reader or as a
Publisher:
You will be able to view all posted activities
You will be able to enter activities into the calendars to which you have been given publish access.
Is my login and password the same as my Planet Username and password?
No. Your login as a publisher is generally your EmplID (if you are a contractor it is a bit different). Your password has been provided to you in an email previous to the launch.
I have forgotten my password. What can I do?
Contact
Technical Support Operations or log a
NorthStar ticket. Your password will be reset to the default. Once your password has been reset, be sure to click the
Options icon when you log in and change your password to something more secure and one that you will easily remember.
What fields are required to add an activity to the calendar?
The fields that the system actually requires are few, but the fields that are required by business process include:
Where do we get the wave id and campaign codes?
These ID codes are references to the activity codes we store in our transactional CRM system, Customer1. Once you have access to C1, you can simply look up the code using the activity name and enter the IDs into the appropriate calendar fields.
What if I don't currently have access to C1? How can I fill out all of the information such as wave id and campaign codes?
These ID codes are references to the activity codes we store in our transactional CRM system - Customer1. Former JDE Employees will not have access to C1 until January 19, 2004, so they will not be required to enter this data until that time. However, if you would like to complete the fields, you may get the campaign and wave IDs from your Direct Marketing contact on Margie Sconza's team.
Should activities that are added to the calendar be planned activities, approved activities or both?
Please use your best judgment on this one, knowing that plans change all the time in the marketing world. As soon as you have a relatively high level of confidence that the activity will launch, please go through the described
Activity Approval Process and post the event. Dates can be changed and activities deleted if needed.
Can I search for activities by industry instead of by product?
Yes, simple navigate to the map at
http://mktgcalendar.peoplesoft.com and select an industry group rather than a geography if you are viewing activities. If you are publishing activities and wish to see existing industry events only, please edit your favorite calendars to reflect your desired selections.
The standard information requested in the event description field is activity objective, key message, call-to-action, and rollup campaign. Can I include additional information in this field such as speaker, booth number, and so forth?
Yes of course! Please provide as much information as you can to help the field understand the intentions and expectations of the event.
If I want to enter an activity that spans multiple dates, do I have to enter the activity multiple times?
No. If you would like to repeat the activity across multiple days, you must select the
Repeat this event checkbox, select the
Interval and make a
Repeat selection. Be sure to complete all three of these repeat fields.
Are there any plans to automatically link the global marketing calendar to official PeopleSoft websites such as peoplesoft.com and Customer Connection?
No. This is a gap-fit solution that will only be in place until we get CRM 8.9 implemented internally that has native calendaring functions. Because the application has a relatively short shelf life, we do not expect to be doing any integrations to other systems or huge modifications to the application. The calendar that currently exists to populate events on peoplesoft.com and customer connection will remain in place until an alternative is in place.
If I add an activity to the wrong calendar (e.g., I add a CRM event to the German CRM and HCM calendars) will the software recognize the error or will it be displayed in both?
No. It is your responsibility as a publisher to ensure that the activities are entered into the correct calendars. The calendar application only puts it where you tell it to go. You can always edit the activity to change calendars though, so if you identify a mistake, please correct it as soon as you can so that you are providing accurate information to the organization.
I can only see activities for one channel. What is going on?
Most likely, you have used the Category/Channel filter in the calendar and have not gone back to disable the filter you previously selected. The filter selection is "sticky" and will remain in place until you deselect it by choosing "Disable Filtering" from the Category filter in the calendar.
I'm having trouble exporting activities to Excel using a date range. I establish the range but still seem to export activities outside of the range. Is there a bug?
No, there is not a bug. Most likely, you selected a date range, but did not select the
From radio button in front of the date range drop down boxes.
All Dates is the export default.
