Manage Workforce feature in NorthStar web

Document number: 15382

The Manage Workforce feature in NorthStar web is to be used for managers to order a computer, telecommunications equipment, and system accounts for new employees and contractors. It replaces the Setup New Hire feature. This process does NOT replace HR-related manager tasks relating to managing new full-time employees or contingent employees. You must use the current tools put in place Human Resources to handle the HR issues, such as the Manager Dashboard or contingent workforce system.

There are 3 tools available once you specify whether the new hire is a full-time employee or a contractor. Click on a link below for more information about each of the tools:

New Hire Wizard
Transfer Wizard
Separation Wizard

New Hire Wizard

If you are submitting a request for network access and equipment for a contingent worker, you must first enter the contingent worker into HRMS to generate a unique ID. See Eureka! document 18162 — Entering a contingent worker in HRMS for detailed information.

This tool works the same way as the Setup New Hire tool worked previously. You can use this tool to:

Once you choose the type of equipment or access you need, you will be prompted for the new hire's name and other information. You will also be prompted for manager information.

You will be prompted for information about the user, including job code and department information.

Separation Wizard

Note: This tool is used for only non-U.S.-based contractors who leave employment with PeopleSoft.

When a full-time employee leaves employment with PeopleSoft, you must use the PeopleFlow process to properly report the issue. All aspects of the separation are covered in that process.

When a contractor leaves leaves employment with PeopleSoft in the U.S., the contingent workforce group will process the separation.

When a contractor leaves employment with PeopleSoft outside the US, you may use the Separation Wizard to submit information about the separation. You will be prompted for the Contractor's ID. If you do not know the ID, see Eureka! document 15285 — How to look up your Contractor ID in NorthStar.
