Deactivating a resource in Resource Management

Document number: 15248

A resource who is no longer deployable should be deactivated so that his or her name will not come up as an eligible resource for a customer engagement. An employee is deactivated on the current or a future date only. Remember, when the system goes live in March 2002, ALL current deployable resources are activated, so if an employee needs to be deactivated, the employee's manager must do it manually.

After an employee is deactivated, they must be reactivated to once again be eligible for assignments. For more information about reactivating an employee, see Eureka! document 15249 — Reactivating a resource in Resource Management.

An employee needs to be deactivated for the following reasons:

To deactivate an employee, follow the steps below. This is another task that cannot be done from a link on the Resource Management home page. To deactivate a resource, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Resource Management Home Page. For more information on where to find the page, see Eureka! document 15233 — How to access the Resource Management Home Page and dashboards.

  2. From the top of the Resource Management Home Page, click on the Schedule Resources link:
  3. Click the Resource Profile link.

  4. Click the Admin link.

  5. Click Manage Resource Eligibility.

  6. The Resource Search screen appears. Enter the employee's employee ID or first or last name in the field provided (be sure to change the Search by: parameter first) and click Search.
    • You must click the button; pressing { Enter} after entering the information will not start the search automatically.

  7. A screen with the employee(s) who matches your criteria appears. Click on the name of the employee you wish to deactivate.

  8. The Resource Eligibility Management screen appears for the chosen employee. If you are sure that you have the correct employee, click the Change or Add Eligibility button.

  9. Enter the effective date of the employee's ineligibility.
    • Click on the calendar icon to use the calendar to pick the date, or enter it in this format: mm/dd/yyyy.

  10. Make sure that the box under Resource eligible to be staffed? is NOT checked.

  11. Click the Save button.

  12. You will see a Save confirmation screen. Click OK.

The resource is now deactivated. This employee cannot be assigned to a project. For information on how to reactivate a resource, see Eureka! document 15249 — How to reactivate a resource in Resource Management.
