Resumes in Resource Management

Document number: 15246

Deployable resources may now attach their resumes to the Resource Management system in the myProfile feature. There are some new features available as well.

The most important change is that resumes are no longer limited to a file size of 48K. The size is currently unlimited, but do not make the file too big - other people still need to view or download the file, so please take that into consideration when creating the resume. Also, because the resume can now be searched via a keyword search engine, do not to zip up the file, or it cannot be searched. Graphics are permitted, in particular, the PeopleSoft logo, but do keep the size of the graphic to a minimum.

Where to upload your resume

You can post your resume in your profile on the General Info tab. First make sure that your resume file is on your local computer or a drive to which you have current access.

  1. Scroll down the General Info tab on your Profile page until you see the Primary Resume section.

  2. Click on the Add button in that section.
    • If you only see an Update button, make sure that you have not already uploaded a primary resume. If you have, you will need to click the update button instead.

  3. On the next screen, click on the Browse button.

  4. Navigate to the directory upon which your resume resides.

  5. Click once on the file name.

  6. Click on Open.

  7. You will be taken back to the upload screen.

  8. Click on the Upload button.

  9. You will be taken back to the General Info tab screen and a link for your resume should appear.
    • Note: Once you upload your Primary Resume, the Add button will no longer appear. Instead, an Update button will appear. If you must change your Primary Resume, you would click on the Update button.

How to download a resume

To download a resume, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Resource Profile tab of a deployable resource's profile.

  2. Click on the link for the resume near the bottom of the page under the Resume Attachment section.
    • If the deployable resource has not uploaded a resume, there will be no link available.
    • If there is a Resume Attachment section but you are unable to see a link on that tab or you just see a small blue dash, navigate to the General Info tab and click on the View button.

  3. You may be asked if you wish to view the document on the server or save it to another drive.

  4. Please be patient as the file is downloading - it may take a few moments. Microsoft Word launches when you view the file.
    • You may save the resume while in Microsoft Word if you wish to have a copy of the file.

You should be able to view the resume for the deployable resource.

Standard PeopleSoft product naming conventions to use in your resume

All deployable resources received a communication about using standard PeopleSoft product names in their resumes. Here is a link to the standard PeopleSoft Product Names listing. To make the Verity keyword search more efficient, all resumes should use the standard naming conventions discussed in the document: http://planetx.peoplesoft.com/community/marketing/psft_styleguide/prod_names.html. You may have to log into Planet first. For more information, see Eureka! document 15270 — How to log on to Planet PeopleSoft.

Cannot see entire link on Resource Profile tab

When deployable resources or Global Services Managers view the uploaded resumes on the Resource Profile tab (the last tab on the Profile page), they may see only a small blue dash where the resume should be, and that link will not go to the resume file.

To view the resume, go to the General Info tab to the Resume section and click on the View button. You may either download the resume or view it online.

Secondary resumes

Deployable resources may also post a secondary resume in their profile. The main intent for providing this feature is to allow a resume in another language to be posted. This resume is not searched by the Verity keyword search. There is currently no limit to the number of secondary resumes you may add to your profile.

This resume should also be uploaded in the profile, on the General Info tab, near the bottom, below the Primary resume.

Text in Secondary resumes is not part of the keyword search.
