Why is it so important to enter and update my competencies and what will happen if I don't do this?
The Competency Management system is where your profile information is created and updated. Your profile, once approved, will be used by the Resource Management 8 application. Resource Management 8 is where Service Orders will be entered according to customers' work requirements. Therefore, the more complete your profile, the more likely you are to be proposed for engagements that your skills match. Also, there is a feature in Competency Management that allows you to select your preference to use certain skill sets. If these match the customer requirements, you are more likely to be proposed for work that you are interested in. Therefore, it is in the best interests of the customer, PeopleSoft, and you, that you regularly update your profile. On a final note this will be part of the scorecard for ICP - so not only do you get the engagements you want, you get rewarded for just updating your profile.

Why are there so many competencies listed for each job task template?
PeopleSoft applications are complicated, and the skills list to work on those applications needs to reflect the large number of skills required. Also, our technical teams have a wide variety of hardware, operating systems and databases to work with - all of this needs to be reflected. So, to save you time, and to give you a gentle reminder of the skills you may have, we have designed a full set of skills by role. Simply delete the ones you do not have from the list imported after you have selected your role(s).
