Training for Competency Management

There is a Seminar on Demand course available for Competency Management. It will step you through how to enter your information and submit it. To get there, follow these steps:

Log into Knowledge Center. For specific instructions on doing this, see Eureka! document 18201 — How to log in to Knowledge Center.
Once you log in, you will probably be taken to the All Courses screen. If not, click on the All Courses link on the left side of the Knowledge Center screen.
The title of the course you want is Psynergy/FSCM: Competency Management 8.
When you find the course, click on the Registered link to the right of the course name.
You should see a screen that says you have successfully registered for the course.
Click on the View Registered Courses link right below the successful registration message. You should see a list of the courses for which you are registered.
Click on the Start link to the right of the the Psynergy/FSCM: Competency Management 8 course name.
The course screen should appear. Click on the link labeled PeopleSoft 8: Competency Management (Not attempted) to start the course.
Wait for a few moments (especially over RAS). If the course screens do not load after a few minutes, you may need to load the latest version of Authorware (6.0). Click here for more information on how to do that.

Loading the latest version of Authorware (6.0) tested and packaged by PeopleSoft

Although there is a pop-up screen telling you that you can go the Macromedia site to download the latest version of Authorware for your machine, it is better if you load the version available in the Software Library. Follow these steps:

Note: This package runs VERY slowly over RAS and has been known to timeout. If you can download while in the office, that would be the best option.

Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.
If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.
Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.
Scroll until you see the entry Internet Explorer 5 Plugins and double click on it to open it.
Scroll down until you see the button for Authorware 6.0.
Follow the instructions on the page to install the software. Be sure to install the correct software.

The latest version of Authorware should be installed on your machine, and any old versions should be removed.

Tips on the Competency Management Course

Taking this course over RAS can take a long time because of the screen loads. You may wish to download the course first and then take it. You can upload your completion status later.
- To download the course, click on the Download the course and take offline link on the first screen of the Competency Management course. You actually have to Start the course before you can download it.
- The download of the course over RAS may take several hours, particularly if you have a slow connection.

The course is a walk-through of the application, accompanied by an audio guide. You may wish to use headphones if you are in a room with other people.
There are pauses between modules in the course. Generally, when the talking stops, look at the lower left-hand corner of the screen. If it says "Stopped,", lick on the Next button to move onto the next section.
If you have downloaded the course to your local machine, you will need to upload your course status when you are done. To do this, Start the course again, and from the initial screen, choose Upload my Course Status. This option is available only if you have downloaded the course first.
Once you have completed the course, if you wish to take the course again in the future, on the Completed courses screen in Knowledge Center, you can click on the Review link next to the course and see it again.
