The difficulty you are experiencing is that you are unable to export an Access 97 database to an Excel format, or import an Excel file into Access 97.

To solve this, you need to install a fix from the Software Library. Follow these steps:

1. Close down all Microsoft Office applications, except the Office toolbar.

2. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

• If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.

3. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

4. Scroll until you see the entry Microsoft Office - All Versions and double-click on it to open it.

5. Scroll down the page until you see the button labeled Access 97 Fix (Import File Types).

6. A DOS screen will appear momentarily.

7. Once the DOS screen goes away, reboot your machine.

You should be able to import and export to Excel format files.
