Office 2000 file compatibility with Office 97

Generally, Word documents may be viewed and edited by either Word 2000 users or Word 97 users without problems.
One exception is Word 2000's ability to save documents as HTML documents. Word 2000 documents that are saved as HTML documents cannot be opened and edited in Word 97.

Generally, you cannot view or edit an Access 2000 database in Access 97. Unless an Access 2000 database has been saved to Access 97 format, you will get the error Unrecognized database format filename.
You can convert an Access 2000 to Access 97, but this is not a supported procedure.
When viewing an Access 97 database in 2000, you will be prompted to convert the database to Access 2000. If you convert the database, you will no longer be able to view or edit the database in Access 97.
